Royal theater flea market

Thankfully, I have a husband who speaks Danish (very appropriate for this here country) and can read the newspaper otherwise I would have spent last Saturday in my house escaping the cold. Instead, he told me about the Royal Danish Theater flea market where they were to sell their props and sets. "You know, this means that not only are we going, we're going to be the first in line don't you?" was my response. However, Paul had to go pick up our new sofas that morning in a far away land, so it was I who headed solo. I totally underestimated the second-hand spirit of Copenhagen. These people LOVE all things second hand. Not only was I not the first in line, but I had to wait AN HOUR AND A HALF to get inside the door. And you know when you're waiting in line for something, like a flea market inside a mysterious building that could possibly hold all of your wildest dreams, and each person who comes might possibly have already taken your wildest dreams? I was distraught! And then I saw this poster:
and I nearly made a run for it. But, I gained some composure and attempted to patiently wait as I saw more and more objects fly by like this feather thing:
and possibly my favorite find, a single leg (?) that no doubt must be made into a lamp. Only natural.
and oh, a silver mannequin. All of a sudden my twisted brain started thinking, "well, what CAN'T you do with a silver mannequin" cuz that's how you get when you get antsy and vicious at a flea market.

and the back side of the mannequin. And then the sheep? Again, what can't you do with stuffed sheep?
I'm hoping this head on a plate was for Halloween...
Finally, I made it inside and just observed for a whole minute, trying to catch my breath. I think I heard choruses of angels.
I made a couple of laps around before I got down to business. And then I spotted these bad boys:
but oh, what to do with them? I live in a teeny house! And what about this dangerous bicycle built for two? A wall hanging? A planter? The options are limitless!

Almost bought the sewing machine, but uh, I'm not so much into handcranking.

Just across the way there's another flea market that's there all year round. I didn't gawk as much because I knew I could come back. But man, it's a beauty.
And now you must ask, so what DID you come back with if you didn't get the silver mannequin or a single lady's leg? A few faux portraits and white ballet slippers. I knew it was too good to be true when I grabbed a size 8. Must have been British sizes because they're huge. (anyone need some slippers?)
I just found a complete list of all the flea markets in Copenhagen. Ye haw!

Oh, my dream come true! I am still glorying in the finds from when a local theatre's costume department had a garage sale a few years ago.
That beautiful shiny clock! And the tandem bike! I am very impressed with your restraint

Oh my gosh, this looks amazing. I would die for that tandem bike or those paper flower arches.

Seeing this just made me miss Copenhagen so much. I used to love going to the flea markets that they had. I so want to go back there and live there. I don't think I could have been so restrained had I seen all that wonderful ephemera.

oh man, I wish I could say I did. My heart wanted to, but when you don't even have enough room for a sofa I figured it may not be the best investment.
