Holy cow. I had to do a few double takes when I stumbled upon these beauties. Isabelle de Borchgrave creates historical dress creations out of paper. PAPER! The one above is inspired by Marie de Medici from 1555. Her works are on display in a show called "Pulp Fashion: The Art of Isabelle de Borchgravea" at the Legion of Honor, Fine Arts Museums in San Francisco.
This one is based off of a Charles Frederick Worth dress from 1898
Her works are about "loving something, absorbing it, and giving it back. My goal is to find myself in front of a dress that gives me the same shock I got at the Metropolitan." Check out the full feature on 1st Dibs. This is yet another one to be filed under "dream jobs."

Wow, yes! very stunning... yep thats a good word
This makes me want to get on a plane to San Francisco right now. I love the Charles Frederick Worth dress . . .well, sans the sleeves.
I am headed to San Francisco next week! I am so glad you turned me on to this-can't wait to see these beauties in person!
so jealous! enjoy it without me!
There are simply gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
My mom, sister and I were in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. Since it was cold and rainy out, we decided to check out the Pulp Fashion show. These dresses were amazing in person. I wanted to reach out and touch them (but I couldn't since they were a museum exhibit - drats!).

you got to see it in person?! Ok, now I'm feeling the jealousies.
