DIY mini save-the-date art pieces

I've been trying to figure out something to do with those cute little canvas and easels that peer at you at the checkout line at the art supply store screaming "buy me, buy me". I mean, they are adorable, but what do you really do with them? I decided to turn them into mini save-the-dates with the intent that it won't make it into the garbage bin like the rest of them, but actually stay out and remind people of their purpose. Then you stick it into a box and send it off to squeals of delight. Or something like that.
