Garden couture at Dior

Raf Simons debuted his first collection for the house of Dior at last week's Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2012 show. He envisioned a magical canvas of flowers within an intimate salon setting to set off his feminine silhouttes. I'd say....ACHIEVED! Each room contains hundreds of thousands of flowers from floor to ceiling: peonies, goldenrods, dahlias, carnations, delphiniums, roses...oh my!
The kicker is this video of assembling the set. The stylist in me is thinking "so much work to do in so little time" and the daughter-of-a-finance-father is thinking "how much is each flower?!"And the artist in me is thinking "now, THAT's how you create magic in fashion." I think this is the perfect blend of all the arts: fashion, set design, interior design, floral design. Dior, hats off for creating magic. You're living out my dream budget. Now, go watch the video and check out Dior's magazine.
Thanks Rubi for the tip!

A fantastic floral feat! Love that the video takes us to Rungis! You think guests were able to take home a flower or two after the show? :)

I thought they were curtains, yet there were elaborate flora designs. I like the flowers that were embedded on blinds melbourne.

My friend who is a wedding photographer Perth will be amazed if I will do this for my wedding reception. She usually sees traditional reception in hotels and beaches but she haven’t mentioned anything memorable from all the weddings she had attended.

I suddenly dreamed of seeing these upon entering manila real estate subdivisions. On top of that, firewall divisions have the same motif with flowers also. Too girly, I know.

This is the first time I’ve seen a garden reception that is filled with lots of flowers. This is a good additional idea for my project because I am currently studying wedding photography Brisbane.

I've heard of floral themes before, but nothing quite on this scale. It makes me really curious what the rest of the wedding accessories actually look like.

They must avail a good property maintenance service so they can preserve this for future occasions. They can offer this place to their friends too if they want to make money out of it.

Just about the only thing missing from the outdoor areas are maybe a couple of tables and some outdoor umbrellas to go along with the flowers. Other than that, they're a good place to relax and have some tea.

This is absolutely breathtaking! I love flowers and it'd fantastic if I can do this at my own wedding. Sigh. Oh well, in the meantime I have to find a wedding dress shops in somerset for my gown.

I will stick in these flowery wall garden for the reception halls in long island! Look at the lavender flowers in the Haute Couture Autumn-Winter set video, who would think those are real?

For once I would gladly want to pay a lot for this kind of design on my wedding. My fiance would definitely love it as a surprised!

The venue will look good on the bridesmaid dress I bought and picked out to some stores on Long island. If ever the event will be held here, I will make sure to take a lot of picture as a souvenir.

Looking at your pictures, I just had a new photo-shoot idea: a wedding photo by the flower-filled arc, with the "magical canvas of flowers" emphasizing the beautiful diamond wedding rings on their fingers. Wonderful!

I wish my garden looked even remotely like that. It would be perfect for a nice relaxing stroll on a lazy afternoon.

I wish I could have a million flowers for a garden wedding. Just like that. It seems pretty hard to organize, specially if you're just in step one: finding the right jewelry. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is just a perfect spot for a wedding to take place. If I were to get married in the future, the venue should b e like this, walls are filled with flowers.

The venue is perfect! My cousin's wedding was also filled with flowers, but not as much as these! Good thing the venue allowed us to design it that way. I would love to have my wedding there too, but with more flowers. I'm sure they can design it exactly as I want.

The venue looks so amazing! And what gives life to it more is the way the photographer take the photos. The sharpness and vibrancy of every shot is just amazing.

That the set was assembled in so little an amount of time, and that they managed to fit every key piece together is something to be reckoned with. And that's not counting the fact that the designer had a lot of fixtures, chairs and tables to set up for the event.

Andy Danilov said...

I bet the staff had a hard time arranging those chairs. Worth it though; they definitely stand out.

Somebody has to hand it to the interiors team. To be able to get the interiors set up like this is just awesome. I wish I could her them to do some arranging at my wedding.
