Jewel of the missions

When in San Juan, wear a poncho!
What else is there to do in Orange County besides the beach and Disneyland? Mission San Juan! We grew up going to the mission because it was right in our backyard. In fact, in fourth grade, every student has to do a "mission project" where you research one of the 21 missions, write a report about it, and make a model of one. I selected Santa Barbara even though I've never been, but San Juan will always be "my" mission. It's called the Jewel of the Missions and I'd have to agree. (PS-the mission I built was made out of sugar cubes and was pretty fantastic. And yummy.) During the Christmas holiday my sister Caitlin, Tanner, Paul, and I explored the Jewel.
We take museum going very seriously. Proof: audio tour.
You've heard of the swallows of Capistrano? Right here, baby.
Work it.
Have you ever gazed into a llama's eyes? No? Strange. Their pupils are rectangular. Are you seeing this? No, there were no llama's at the mission but there were some at the petting zoo down the street and I had to throw it in.

We got our day after wedding photos taken here. It is a lovely place for romantic photos. Another beautiful spot in OC, even less known than the mission is Casa Romantica. Wonderful history and beautiful grounds. My Nana's been in Laguna for 20 years and had never been. It's also in Cap. Check it out!
